Version Equivalencies Between Forcepoint DLP and EIP Infrastructure/Web/Email Components
Explains why Forcepoint DLP is on a different version branch compared to the other products.

Linked with Confluence:
https://confluence.cloud.fpdev.io/display/DSSEIP/DLP+-+Version+Table

(Removed as this was causing confusion)
As stated in the Deployment Planning for Forcepoint Solutions:

  • Forcepoint DLP v8.9.x is supported with Forcepoint Web and Email Security v8.5.5.
  • Forcepoint DLP v8.7.1-v8.8.2 are supported with Forcepoint Web and Email Security v8.5.4.
  • Forcepoint DLP v8.6 and v8.7 are supported with Forcepoint Web and Email Security v8.5.3.
  • Forcepoint DLP v8.5.1 is supported with Forcepoint Web and Email Security v8.5.0.
  • Forcepoint DLP v8.5.0 and v8.5.2 are stand-alone versions of that product and cannot be integrated with other Forcepoint products.

DLP Version  Infrastructure (EIP) Version GA Date
8.9.18.6.403/31/2022
8.9.08.6.311/30/2021
8.8.28.6.207/01/2021
8.8.18.6.103/25/2021
8.88.6.009/24/2020
8.7.28.5.607/09/2020
8.7.18.5.503/05/2020
8.78.5.410/17/2019
8.68.5.312/20/2018

The decision between minor versions (8.5.1, 8.5.2) and major versions (8.6.0, 8.7.0) is mostly based on the actual content (large release - new features, lots of content).

This was primarily a decision by PM or PM & DEV.

Manually Updating the "Installed" Version Number

In some fringe cases, the version number that the installer pulls is different than what the EIP or DLP version actually is, prompting an upgrade when one isn't necessary.
