Problem Description

When trying to install a supplemental TRITON AP-DATA Server, the installation fails with error code 1406.

In the Install-Data Security.Log, you will see the following;

MSI (s) (CC:EC) [14:52:47:609]: Note: 1: 1406 2: MANAGER_PASS 3: Software\Websense\Data Security
DEBUG: Error 2835: The control ErrorIcon was not found on dialog ErrorDialog
Internal Error 2835. ErrorIcon, ErrorDialog
MSI (s) (CC:EC) [15:00:44:866]: Product: TRITON AP-DATA -- Error 1406. Could not write value MANAGER_PASS to key \Software\Websense\Data Security. System error . Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

Resolution

This issue is caused by using special characters in the TRITON AP-DATA admin password.

To resolve, change the admin password so that it does not include any special characters. After this the installation will complete successfully.
