Problem Description

How do I complete the initial configuration of Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) 51 LTE appliances when PIN code query is enabled on the SIM card?

Resolution

Plug-and-play configuration

When PIN code query is enabled, you cannot use the modem interface for plug-and-play configuration. You can use a fixed Internet connection through Ethernet port 0 for plug-and-play configuration as instructed in the Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall Installation Guide.

Automatic configuration

The initial configuration file that is saved on the USB drive must include the PIN code.

  1. In the Management Client, enter the PIN code in the modem interface properties.
  2. Save the initial configuration file to the root directory of a USB drive.
  3. Configure the appliance using automatic configuration as instructed in the Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall Installation Guide.

NGFW Configuration Wizard

  1. In the Management Client, enter the PIN code in the modem interface properties.
  2. Configure the appliance using the NGFW Configuration Wizard as instructed in the Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall Installation Guide.
    1. Log on to the appliance.
The user name is root and the password is the one you set for the appliance.
    2. To start the NGFW Configuration Wizard, enter the following command:
      sg-reconfigure
    3. On the Configure Network Interfaces page, select Setup modems.
    4. Select Stored, then select OK.
    5. On the Prepare for Management Contact page, select Use Modem, then select Settings.
    6. In the Modem Settings, enter the PIN code, then select OK.
  3. In the Management Client, refresh the policy on the NGFW Engine.
